I’ll give you a tip right away on how to overcome demons:
You’re too late.
Why do I say this? Well, because demons have already been overcome and defeated. Of course this doesn’t mean they still don’t try to bluff and bully you into being their slave. I tell my girls all the time that the scaries are scared of you… if you have Jesus that is. (For those of you reading this who don’t know Jesus then, well, you still belong to them and are their slave.)
For those of you who do belong to Jesus however, the secret is this:
Never give in to fear!
Too many have a big devil and a small Jesus. Some fear a powerless enemy but don’t have a healthy fear of God “in whom we live and move and have our being”. The devil is still God’s servant though he hates it. He is on a tight leash.
Remember the story of Job? Satan had to ask permission from the LORD for every test he brought Job. He was forbidden from taking his life. So we need not fear when our trust is secure in the LORD, our loving heavenly Papa and our Savior and Master Yeshua, and we mustn’t forget Holy Spirit, our dearest friend and constant companion.
Check out the level of victory Jesus has won:
“In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.” Colossians 2:15
Knowing the truth will set you free. Here are a few reflections on my own experiences and learning on the topic:
Part 2:
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9Grieve, mourn, and weep. Turn your laughter to mourning, and your joy to gloom. 10Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.” James 4:7-10
“God opposes the proud
but favors the humble.”So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. 7Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
8Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 9Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are.” 1 Peter 5:5-9The Whole Armor of God
10A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
13Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.d 16In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.e 17Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.18Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.f
19And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike. 20I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God’s ambassador. So pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for him, as I should. (And pray for me too!) Ephesians 6 NLT
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.” 2 Corinthians 10
Bro, I would disagree that the devil is God’s devil. I know that’s a popular Lewis quote, but the devil had his choice and God’s not his accomplice allowing him to do some things, but not other things. Not to get too complicated with God’s authority and such, but if something like stealing/killing/destroying is happening…that’s the devil’s will; if good things like the fruit of the spirit or just good gifts from our father are happening, that’s from God. God’s goodness is simple and we can trust him. Yes, we are at war and at least everyone knows who wins! 😊
