Inside a vast and practically empty warehouse sits a large, two-story boarding house mansion, ten rooms wide and ten rooms deep. The warehouse was 100 times larger than the mansion. The immaculate facade of this mansion impressed the eyes with its marble pillars and striking blue stucco walls. Inside the mansion, the first rooms were elegant and functional. I saw that families were living in this area, but there was an issue. The entire back section beyond the facade and first rooms, about 90% of the house, was in terrible disrepair and uninhabitable… a dilapidated ruin. Something must be done.

The only livable portion of the house was exposed to the chilly air at the back, and the families needed help. The house could not be heated. Due to a chilly evening, the entire warehouse had to be heated just to keep those in the house warm through the night, but this was unsustainable. The house had to hold heat on its own to survive the coming winter.
Winter approached in just a few short weeks, and something had to be done quickly. There were abundant piles of construction materials for a repair or a rebuild, and angelic workers stood ready for direction. I had been chosen to be a part of the inspection team to determine how to proceed. What are we to do? Repair or start from scratch? That was the question on the table.
I walked around the back of the mansion with a team of angels to examine the structure and determine what to do. I observed fractures in the foundation and failing support pillars. This is in danger of collapsing! The families are not safe!
But the front looks SO beautiful and inviting, it seemed a shame to tear it down.
What to do? What to do?
I know! 💡 I will ask God for wisdom! As the Scripture says, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” (James 1:5 NLT)
I asked, and suddenly, I know the answer.
(Let me tell you, it was such a joy to have an undivided loyal heart to receive this wisdom from God. I was delighted to “know” that about myself.)
The answer: The house had to be torn down entirely and rebuilt from scratch. Final answer.
We must start over.
