Two Kayakers at Cave Point

Screen Shot 2017-04-28 at 11.17.18 PMToday I witnessed a tragic event.

It is almost too much to describe. After my morning concert in Sister Bay, WI, I decided to stop by Cave Point Park. I arrived at 11:43 – just thirteen minutes after the unthinkable had happened.

When I arrived, the first responders were on scene with yet another arriving right behind me. I began praying right away. I walked to the cliffs over the water where a few people were standing, as the police officer made and responded to calls on his walkie-talkie.

I wondered what was going on. I overheard them talking and pointing to two kayaks that were floating upside down at least a hundred yards or so off shore. I overheard that they weren’t wearing life jackets.

I prayed harder and scanned the water again for any sign of life.

The story I was told was that two kayakers had capsized in the water. One had flipped and, while the other one was trying to help him, he too capsized. The waters of Lake Michigan were only 43 degrees. It was windy and wavy and a fairly cold day to begin with. A woman who had accompanied them walked up the path sobbing. I prayed for her.

The Coast Guard was called in and arrived before noon. Other smaller boats had already been launched before then. The boats circled around once looking for the bodies, then once spotted near the cliffs, two divers jumped in and recovered the bodies. I watched and prayed as they hauled two unresponsive men into the boat and immediately started giving CPR.

I prayed for a resurrection. As familiar as I was with Near Death Experiences and who my God is, I knew that anything was possible.

I prayed,

“Loving Heavenly Papa, Give those boys a warm hug and your breath of life.”

I watched as they moved them to the larger Coast Guard boat and given more CPR.

More prayers.

If they were not coming back, I prayed for their sins be forgiven. I prayed for their souls to be welcomed and ministered to by angels. I prayed for grace as they entered the next phase of their souls growth and journey.

What would you pray?

“Papa, lovingly receive these boys that you created for yourself. They are included in what Christ accomplished on the cross and resurrection as much of any of us. I pray they receive your gift of eternal life.”

Please pray for the families and friends of these two men! One was a 21-year-old from Clintonville and the other a 29-year-old from Sturgeon Bay.

  1. I had a dream about going out to retrieve an abandoned kayak. I saw two kayakers coming down to the shore talking about a hunting trip they had just been on and they were about too launch. I was about to dive into the water and then I noticed my children were walking on the water playing. I looked closer and there were hexagrams all over the waters surface. It seemed that if you knew how to you could walk on these like a mat over the water. Reminds me of the movie the Shack!
