Flying Blind

Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that those who do not see may gain their sight, and the ones who see may become blind.”

Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard this and asked him, “We are not blind too, are we?” Jesus replied, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin, but now because you claim that you can see, your guilt remains.”
(John 9:39-41 NET)

So what did you think of this video?

These people were SO brave to share their stories, don’t you think? What kind of story would you share if you got real? What would you be brave enough to share? Where are you in the process? Still in the sewer of sin? Do you have a powerful testimony that will help others out of their sin?

“Wake up. Before it’s too late. Wake up. Sin destroys.” (from the film)

Well this morning I woke up so angry and frustrated. The enemy had been parading sin before me in my dreams. I was telling someone in my dream, “That is only for married people and is private. It isn’t for the movies.”

I’m angry and frustrated because I’ve been played by the enemy. Souls are being dragged to hell all around me and I say nothing. I do nothing.

I listened to 1 Corinthians from the Bible in my car today. It was a letter from Paul to a messed up church with all kinds of problems. One of the biggest problems was the sexual immorality.

“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18 NIV

You’ve heard it before I’m sure, the frog in the water scenario – you put a frog in cool water and slowly turn up the heat. It’s such a gradual change it cooks the frog alive. It doesn’t jump out because the changes are so gradual.

It reminded me of this Scripture:

“…From the least to the greatest,
their lives are ruled by greed.
From prophets to priests,
they are all frauds.
They offer superficial treatments
for my people’s mortal wound
.
They give assurances of peace
when there is no peace…” Jeremiah 6:13-14 NLT

Superficial treatments for people’s mortal wound.

America is mortally wounded. You’ve grown accustomed to it. You’ve learned to cope. You don’t know how bad it is anymore because you have nothing awesomely wonderful to compare it to. The darkness doesn’t seem so dark because the light has been pushed away. But the Light cannot be defeated.

I have another very disturbing dream to share with you. I knew it was VERY important at the time, but over time I forgot about it.

Yesterday, it came back to me. This dream was about the price for sexual immorality. Here tis:

A girl I was involved with turned me over to a prison work camp. She was rewarded for bringing me in. It was her “job” to seduce and capture the souls of young men to work as slaves for the kingdom of darkness. (I was just one more soul among many). A friend of mine had also come with me and been delivered to this prison camp.

Those in charge began to lay out for us what our lives would be like and reveled in the dread that came over our faces.

“No this can’t be”, I complained. The woman said, “Well just like you worked for me, now you work for them.”

Along with my friend I tried to run. Everyone seemed entertained that they would now get to chase us. We hid briefly behind cattle cars filled with young men just like us.

“We’ve got to get out of here.”

I soon realized that there was no escape. We were in a realm of darkness. This was their place. This was their home.

Finally I called out to Jesus, “Jesus, please save us!”

Fiery vessels came flying down to us from the sky. The angels aboard these craft said telepathically to us, ‘But what of the sin you didn’t want to part with?’

I was speechless. I realized that these angels and God himself had become our enemies and stood opposed to us because of the sin we had embraced.

I woke up with the Scripture:

“You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.” James 4:4 NLT

John informs us that “the world” here refers to three things:

“For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.” 1 John 2:16 (1 John 2:16)

This morning it felt like Jesus was taking me by the collar and saying, “It’s time to get serious”.

That is like the last thing I want to do. I really hate how “serious” and sobering the Bible and “religion” can be, don’t you?

I want to have fun and be happy. I don’t want to talk about sin… like ever. but only about the good and happy. Isn’t there a verse like that?

“…whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things…” (Philippians 4:8)

My entire life has been ruined by that serious side of religion! I’m exhausted with how damn sobering it is with all these warnings of hell. I don’t want to ever make another person feel judged because they encountered me. I want them to feel accepted and loved. I want to make them laugh.

I choose love.

But love tells the truth. Love will slap you across the face and tell you to pull your head out of your ass and stop living in a fantasy world. Love will always tell you that sin will destroy you.

I just watched a Jack Black movie called “The Polka King”.

It was actually really sad watching him create this fantasy world for himself and others. “In 2001 Lewan was arrested for defrauding some 400 people in 22 states of millions of dollars.” (source) He went to prison, lost his wife, and was stabbed in the neck by his cell mate for singing polka.

Jesus always tells us the truth. He will not allow us to manufacture a fantasy world where suddenly sin  (or polka music) is now ok. The Word of God still stands and experience will prove it true every time.

Sin really IS a mortal wound and only a real and completely liberating encounter with Jesus the Great Physician who is Love incarnate is the cure. Your cure. My cure. Do you want it?

Jesus answered them, “Those who are well don’t need a physician, but those who are sick do. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Luke 5:31-32 (NET Bible)
