Though I have been a "Christian" for so many years, in many ways I feel life with Christ is a quest in with many troubles and dangers. It is frightfully more dangerous than anyone ever told me at the outset. Any "true" adventure would be, wouldn't it?
This blog is about the adventure of discovery in this quest to follow the one who forged the path to life and true love so many years ago. I have found that the epic rescuing story of Jesus is far more relevant to you and I than we give it credit.
This song exists because of my six year old daughter who, right before bedtime, said, “Papa, I have a song on my mind.” She sang the opening two lines of this song, words and melody. I was awe struck. “Is she hearing angels sing this because that was really good!”

One of God’s names is YHWH Shalom which can be roughly translated as “I AM Peace” and “in God we live and move and have our being”. There is WAY more depth to this Name than can be expressed. The ONE who IS Peace is here to be experienced!
We encourage you to take some time to hear the heart of God in this song. Put on your head phones, find a quiet space and experience Jesus in this prophetic song. This is a message from Jesus to you. Jesus invites you to come to him and experience his Peace, his Shalom. It is yours to experience right now if you want to. He is your Safe Place.

Did you know that “Shalom” means peace? There is a wonderful Scripture that doubles up on that word in the Hebrew to emphasize it’s awesomeness:
“You will keep in perfect peace (shalom shalom) all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”

I continue to have a great deal of contact with the host of heaven. Holy Spirit revealed new layers as to why I absolutely adore the term “host of heaven”. The terms “saints and angels” and the “cloud of witnesses” just doesn’t cut it. They just don’t allow for some important nuances and vast variety of beautiful souls that “host of heaven” includes.
All of us are surrounded by the host of heaven and ALL of us can become the host of heaven! How? By hosting heaven!

We become the host of heaven when we host the Presence of God. When we open the door to Jesus and he (and the Trinity) comes in to make his home within each one.
“Loving me empowers you to obey my word. And my Father will love you so deeply that we will come to you and make you our dwelling place.”

Jesus never imposes himself on anyone and we ALL continue to have free will. Anyone at any time can refuse fellowship with God. This is why Jesus continues to put forth the invitation as he continues to find himself on the outside of fellowship with the believer:
“Behold, I’m standing at the door, knocking. If your heart is open to hear my voice and you open the door within, I will come in to you and feast with you, and you will feast with me.”

We will “share a meal together as friends” as one translation puts it. I love this beautiful picture of friendship.
I encourage you to tune into Jesus right now, open the door, and be a host of heaven!
In our conversation one thing that kept coming up was this idea that everyone is a child of God. But what about unbelievers? What about when Jesus says to some, “you are of your father the devil”?
“You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44 NASB
Apparently this needs some further investigation because on the surface it seems we are opposing the very words of Jesus Christ!
In this blog post he talks about the broad sense in which, yes indeed we are ALL God’s offspring, his children made in his image and likeness. He also comments how John and the Gospel writers and Jesus discuss how “God’s children in the narrow sense are those who resemble their Father by imitation.”
This was the sense that John refers to those who receive Christ have the right to become children of God. In the sermon on the mount, it is the peacemakers and those who love their enemies who will be called the sons of God and acting like their Father in heaven.

I recently sat down with Wm Paul Young and though we were two time zones and 2000 miles apart we were together in heart and mind. We talked about many things but the main point I was going after in this interview was simply this: “God is Love”
Since this is true than it must follow that what we call God’s “wrath” must be an expression of God’s love!

Love is at the heart of the character and essence of God. He could NEVER act in a way contrary to love. Love is other centered self sacrificing love. His love is that of a perfect parent. For just as Jesus taught us, he is our Father, our Abba, our Papa.
ps. Wm Paul Young often mentions his friend Brad Jersak who has written a book called Her Gates Will Never Be Shut about the real hope we can have regarding God’s wrath, judgement, and eternal matters. Brad discovered that the Greek words for God’s judgement are always restorative in nature. What does this mean as it relates to hell?
